Co-Parenting Donors

Are you single or in a lesbian/gay relationship and want to be a parent- but without romance? Children thrive in a variety of different situations- where their basic needs are met- and where there is love, kindness, consitency, boundaries, respect....Children need positive role models and can often feel more secure with two parents- regardless of set-up. Coparenting can be a wonderful choice- where the needs of the child are put first.

Coparenting is used as a choice by individuals seeking to have children, who do not wish to enter into a conventional relationship. Such arrangements are common among gay and lesbian parents however I am now finding that this option is also being sought by single heterosexual individuals.

The world is changing - and often people can find themselves still single - and childless- at a time when they are emotionally and financially secure, and able to provide a great life for children. It is logical therefore to seek out another individual in order to achieve this- and I hope that FSDW provides a safe, responsible community where people can meet and create their own arrangement. At all times I would urge people to be cautious- and approach this not only from an emotional standpoint- but also a logical one- and in a sense as a business arrangement. Prevention is better than cure- so discuss the important issues before they arise. Where will the child live, what will the approach be to discipline, schooling, religion and more...There is almost always a way to compromise on differences and make this work. I will soon be offering a range of services and a strong support network for those seeking to cp-parent without romance. I hope you will join me to offer choices to all- and to always keep a focus on whats important- our children.

Emma created FSDW (originally Sperm Donors Worldwide) in 2004. Although controversial, Emma felt that many women and couples who wanted desperately to be a parent- and would make wonderful parents!- were limited in their choices, because of marital status, sexuality, fertility issues & more. She didn't feel this was fair.
FSDW offers choices- and not just for women- it is also proving successful for men wanting to co-parent!

FSDW members want to become pregnant through sperm donation - DIY Baby™! - women and infertile couples subscribe as they want to find a sperm donor for private sperm donation, or who will offer their sperm for IVF at a clinic. They may want find a sperm donor for shared parenting (co-parenting) - or to find someone who wants no contact post conception ie anonymous sperm donations. You work out your own arrangement- because how you do this is up to you!
All we ask is that you abide by our Behaviour Code and ensure that you have fully researched your decision and feel ready to not only become pregnant, but also to meet the emotional, physical and financial needs of a child.

Dear Emma,
Well here we are, at the end of 2009, a strange year, nerve wracking year, but a wonderful year.
It was a year ago that I made the decision to join your site, at 34 knowing I was ready to become a Mum.  I was amazed at the response, but to me I knew I had to find the right donor for this to work, not down to characteristics but just a feeling..
On January 4th I had an email from someone, who was outside my age bracket that I was searching in, from another country (i'm in the UK and he was in Canada) but something was very easy & after a couple of emails it was very apparent, if I was to go ahead with this whole process, he was the one. Luckily he felt the same way about me, after choosing who he wanted to help very carefully, and had been registered for some time.
So In May, we met for the first time as he was in the UK, my dates weren't quite right, ovulation happened 2 days prior to his arrival. In June we tried again, but again the dates were only just within the fertile window, but it was third time lucky when I fell pregnant when he was back in the UK in July.
I'm now 25 weeks through, we have an amazing friendship for life - he has mde this a very positive and amazing journey so far. 
So I just want to say to anyone, be open in what you think you are looking for, find the RIGHT donor and don't base that on geography alone.
So Thank you Emma, for your wonderful site, without it, I wouldn't be pregnant now & I woudln't have met this wonderful, generous man who will be a friend for life.....
